Welcome Home Parade October 2008
Soldiers from the 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish Regiment paraded through the streets of
Market Drayton after returning from their tour of duty in Afghanistan. The Salute was taken
outside Market Drayton Library by the Mayor Councillor Robert Bently. Following the parade
there was a service of thanksgiving at St Mary's Church attended by the regiment, VIPs and
members of the Town Council.

Christmas Lights Switch On

Join in with all the festive fun at the 2009 Festival of Lights.
The "Switch On" will be at 6.30pm.

Christmas Card Competition Entries

This year Mayor Councillor Roy Aldcroft's chosen
charities are St John Ambulance, whose volunteers
in Market Drayton are celebrating their centenary year.
The Fire Service Benevolent Fund which supports our
local firefighters and their families in the event of
tragedy or illness.
Market Drayton Stroke and Dysphasia. This is very
much a local group, and winner of the Stroke
Association's national award for their continued support
and awareness programmes within our community.
Snowman Local children have submitted their designs and a
designed by Daniel Astbury - Age 6 delightful pack of Christmas cards have been produced
Market Drayton Infants School The cards are on sale at the Town Council Offices,
18 Frogmore Road Market Drayton,
priced at £3 for a pack of 10 cards.
