Welcome to our Website

LogoMarket drayton welcome signWelcome to the official website of Market Drayton Town Council which has been designed and constructed to provide what we hope will be a valuable resource of information to all residents of the town and visitors.

Market Drayton was granted its charter in 1254 and today still holds one of the liveliest weekly street markets in the area. It retains much of its medieval street pattern with red sandstone and mellow brick buildings mingling with black and white half-timbered properties.

Market Drayton is twinned with Pezenas in France and Arlon in Belgium

Reporting Environmental Crime

Market Drayton Town Council now have the means of reporting environment crimes; such as littering, dog fouling and dogs off leashes.

In the interests of public health and under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 it is possible
for the principle authority to issue fixed penalty notices.

The Town Council will issue an Environmental Crime Report if people are found to be committing
an offence which could lead to a payment of a fixed penalty.

Market Drayton thrives on the contribution made to its community life by many of its citizens.

They take several different forms, many voluntary and often in support of the town’s organisations.
Many benefit and the quality of life is improved by their hard work.

For some their work goes unrecognised and unrewarded.

The Town Council has the right however to bestow the award of “Honorary Townsman” upon those
whose accomplishments are considered to be outstanding and therefore worthy of this prestigious accolade.

Please click here to nominate your candidate for the award.

All applications need to have been received by Thursday 27 August 2015
